Mexican Restaurants in Grand Rapids, Michigan area

Here are some ideas of places to go for Mexican food in the greater Grand Rapids area. These are places that we've been to and have some authentic south of the border style cooking. Several places you may never think to visit because they are so small or they don't do a ton of advertising because they are "mom & pop" type dining places. But we always recommend trying new places and new foods because you never know when you'll find a new dish that you absolutely love! 

These are by FAR not the only places to go in our coverage area but some ideas that may get you to seek out even more places to visit.

El Granjero Mexican Grill - Located near downtown Grand Rapids and not too far from the John Ball Zoo. This restaurant features REAL authentic mexican food recipes. Fresh and tasty is what you will receive here and don't be afraid to ask about what you see on the menu. There are alot of unique items and the food here is Very Good!

Cafe San Juan- Located in Wyoming near 36th st and Burlingame. This small family owned restaurant features Mexican AND Cuban dishes. I have to mention that their wet burritos, home-made salsa & home-made chips are a favorite of ours. You'll find more of a familiar mexican menu and great weekly specials.

Beltline Bar- Located near 28th and Division very close to US131. They are known for Great, Huge wet burritos but also have excellent chimichangas! They have a full bar so PLAN on ordering Margaritas with your meal! Also, if you don't get the fried ice cream for dessert..then you're crazy..just an FYI. 

Cinco de Mayo Downtown- Located downtown Grand Rapids right on the Monroe Center. This is another place that serves great mexican dishes with daily food & drink specials(they do serve alcohol). Their food is excellent and you can expect to clear your plate no matter what you decide to order. BUT save ROOM FOR FRIED ICE CREAM! (seeing a recurring theme?)

Little Mexico Cafe- Located near NW downtown GR. A very popular restaurant that has been around for MANY years. They actually serve breakfast, lunch and dinner. They have a familiar mexican food menu with a full bar. Their food is very good and quite frankly, you don't stay open as long as this place has unless you're doing something Right. They do have live music once in awhile.
